The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
